"Civil War: The Newark Connection", a special exhibit in commemoration
of the 150th Anniversary of the start of the Civil War, will close
April 7th, at the Newark-Arcadia Historical Museum, 120 High St.,
Newark.
The exhibit includes portions of letters written home by Newark
soldiers. There are two diaries on display, with pages open to reveal
accounts by one held at a prisoner of war camp. A unique "Inscription
board", found at a local house, includes thoughts written in pencil
about the Conscription Act of 1863. View these and many more
interesting items when you visit!
The museum is open Saturdays, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. (and at other times by
chance or by appointment). Admission is free, with donations accepted.
The museum has a research room and gift shop.
