On April 15th, it will be the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912. Over 1,500 lives were lost and most of the bodies were not recovered. To commemorate this tragedy, the Lyons Public Library will be featuring a display of replica Titanic memorabilia from the private collection of Sharon Yonker. These items will be placed in the glass display case near the circulation desk. Also on display, will be books pulled from the library’s collection on the disaster. Never before seen photographs from April's National Geographic magazine of the inside of the sunken ship are cutout and have been placed above the book display.

The movie, “A Night to Remember”, will be shown on Thurs., April 19 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room. This is a British production done in 1958, which is based on Walter Lord’s book, A Night to Remember. Kenneth More stars as real life Second Officer Charles Herbert Lightoller. While many new facts have come to light in the following years, this film portrays a straightforward telling of the disaster with no additional fictional subplots. A brief introduction will be given prior to the film. Refreshments will be provided.
