SUBMITTED by Barb DeRoo (4-Apr-2012)
When: April 25, 2012 (Rain Date April 26th)
Where: Lyons Community Center at the Forever Wild For Everyone Butterfly Trail, 4 Manhattan Street Lyons, NY 14489
Create a living sculpture by shaping soil and covering it with grass! These sculptures take on many shapes and sizes, from sod animals and other figures, to more abstract creations. One of the most popular forms is a very literal translation of the term “lawn furniture.” Sod sofas, chairs, and chaise lounges are all the rage in both public and private settings. In addition, they’re as functional as they are fun. They have a lot of appeal since they can provide a place to hang out and congregate in a public space such as a school garden, community green space or public garden. Come to learn how to create a piece of living furniture, and then – the sky will be the limit regarding what you can create on your own!
HOLD YOUR SPOT!!!
Dress appropriately for playing in the mud! No open toed shoes. Please bring work gloves and your own water bottle.
For more information contact Sandi Bastedo sb932@cornell.edu or Kimberly Gardner kag19@cornell.edu or call 315-331-8415.
