The Western Finger Lakes Solid Waste Management Authority Board met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 16. Because of concerns over closing the Authority office, the Board scheduled meetings for Monday, May 21 and Monday, June 18. All meetings are held at the Authority office, 9 Pearl Street, Lyons. Meetings start at 5 p.m. The public is always welcome.
In other business, Administrator Marjorie Torelli reported on the result of the on-line auction of the equipment at the Authority Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in the Town of Arcadia, Wayne County. All the equipment was sold from small items like pressure washers and assorted tools to the complete fiber sorting system and its baler and the entire container sorting system. Buyers are arranging to remove their purchases from the MRF. All the equipment must be removed by May 31. Ms. Torelli stated that probably removal will be completed well before the end of May.
In addition to selling the equipment, the MRF building itself was sold in an on-line auction. The Authority lawyer is drawing up an agreement between the buyer and the Authority.
