Matthew Austin, 21, was recently diagnosed with Huntington's disease, as terminal illness that leaves him with no more than ten to fifteen years to live.
During the Summer of 2012, Matt and his uncle, Adam Austin, will film a documentary as they depart on a bicycle trip across the East and West Coasts of the country. They will begin their journey from Palmyra, NY where Matt's family was raised. Matt's father, Lloyd Andrew and grandfather, Earl Francis Austin also had Huntington's disease. While on the ride, Matt will learn about his father and family and connect with others with Huntington's disease.
On May 19, 2012 a fundraiser at the Lock 29 Tavern in Palmyra, NY will help raise awareness of those devastated by this disease and raise money to help Matt ride. Starting at Noon, the event will feature local musicians, a chicken BBQ, 50/50 raffles, silent auctions, children's events and more.
We are asking for your assistance through a donation. You may contact Aaron and Carol Austin by email or phone at caustin@rochester.rr.com, 585-727-8084 or Annaliese Austin Parker at anya16@rochester.rr.com, 585-727-3070.
