The retailers of Canal Street in Lyons, New York have rolled out the welcome mat for another new business in their midst. The Canal Street General Store and Totally Wired Computer Repair have opened their doors at 32 Canal Street. The Canal Street General Store offers organic and non-genetically modified foods and meats along with "green" cleaning products. Beef, pork, brown and free-range eggs, gluten-free flour, Fair Trade coffee, Cayuga Lake Creamery Ice Cream, organic teas, and sugar substitutes for those that live with Diabetes are just of few of the items sure to top your shopping list.
Organic foods have been riding the crest of the healthy living mantras and Jill Herendeen believes it is time to bring healthy alternatives and chemical-free foods to Wayne County consumers. Jill says, "Organic foods are not only better for people but for the environment, as well." She went on to explain, "Organic farmers shy away from chemicals and insecticides preferring to utilize natural ways to fertilize and protect growing crops. By using these methods, organic farmers are impacting the soil in much less destructive ways. Organic growers use pesticides that are derived from nature that loose their toxicity much quicker, usually in three days time." Along with the above listed grocery items, there are plans to add grains, nuts, granola, and herbs. The environmentally conscious shopper will also find handmade, chemical and cruelty-free soaps and beauty aids as well as locally crafted jewelry and kitchen linens.
In keeping with organic and green ideas, the General Store will also offer gently used home goods, books, and vintage clothing while at the rear of the store, husband Tom operates Totally Wired computer repair and services. Clients can feel free to bring their computer to Tom or Tom will make local house calls at reasonable rates. Totally Wired will also work with customers on issues as broad as Information Technology, telecommunications and security system services. Those looking for a less expensive but perfectly usable home computer alternative will be able to consider refurbished PC systems that Tom offers for sale. Keeping it all in the family, Tom and Jill's daughters, Sarah and Mary, will be assisting their parents in the day-to-day operations of the Canal Street General Store. Hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday, 9:30 - 6:00, Thursday 9:30 - 8:00, Friday 9:30 - 6:00 and Saturday 9:30 - 4:00. Visa and Mastercard are accepted as is EBT (electronic benefits transfers). For more information, call the Canal Street General Store or Totally Wired Computer Repair at 315-719-7176.
