PT 728 attracted many spectators and speculators yesterday as it swiftly and deftly glided through Wayne County on the Erie Canal. The PT crew was not in uniform. No one was going to battle.
The PT 728 was en route to its new home port. According to Bill Gomola, travelling with the vessel, “We just purchased this PT boat on Sunday in Kingston, New York. Now we are headed home to our museum in Port Clinton, Ohio. Once we get across Lake Erie, we will be extremely happy. We are all enthusiastic volunteer members of the Liberty Air Museum. We are dedicated to preserving WW II aircraft. This is our latest acquisition.

As PT 728 passed through Lock 30 in Macedon, several military veterans watched and reminisced about serving our country. One of those veterans, Jim Bush, said it best, “Those boys are doing our country a real service, we need to preserve history!”
