Hotchkiss Building on the Erie Canal
The Lyons Hotchkiss Peppermint Building and Museum, just a few feet from the Erie Canal, will have special hours and activities during Canal Splash Weekend, August 10, 11, and 12. Tourists will be able to enjoy the aroma of Peppermint Oil and view historic Peppermint Oil manufacturing memorabilia as well as view and purchase “Erie Canal” artwork produced by local artists.

The Lyons Heritage Society, owner of the Historic Hotchkiss Essential Oil Building, in cooperation with the Wayne County Council of the Arts, is hosting the art show and sale. Area artists displaying artwork include: Bonnie Evangelist, Linda DeVeronica, Wendy Woodworth, and Judi Shumway. Area artists were asked to showcase the Erie Canal. According to Patricia Alena, President of the Lyons Heritage Society, “This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our local talent and likewise foster an interest and love for the Erie Canalway.”
