The Lyons Main Street Program's 2011-2012 Peppermint Pennies and Bandstand Bucks promotion collected funds to assist in "prettying up" Lyons parks and downtown Erie Canal Waterfront.
Over-sized glass jars were strategically placed in high volume traffic locations such as LNB and Dobbins Drugs to encourage shoppers to donate their change and folding money to purchase plants and materials for Lyons' parks.
The LMSP Board of Directors presented checks to the Village of Lyons Mayor, Corrine Kleisle, and to Mark DeCracker, representing Trail Works, Inc. and the Lyons "Trail of Hope", for plant materials and supplies for Taylor Park, the Erie Canal Waterfront, the Village Square Park and Bandstand, and the "Trail of Hope".
The year-long promotion collected almost $650 and plans are in the works to put the jars out again for the 2012-2013 season within the next 30 days. Locate your penny jar and donate its contents to a fantastic cause - Lyons' parks!
