The Newark Pilots (19-16) defeated the Glens Falls Golden Eagles (17-17) by the final score of 6-4 Sunday night at Colburn Park. This was the first win against Glens Falls on the year and the team’s win streak extends to four.

The Golden Eagle didn’t waste time as they jumped out front to take the lead in the top of the first inning. With men on first and second base, the catcher Chase Griffen (Georgia Southern) singled up the middle allowing Ross Kivett (Kansas State) to score for the game’s first run.

Newark took to the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning to take a 2-1 lead. Micah Easterling (UT-Dallas) started things of by scoring home from third on a wild pitch. With a man on third base and no outs, Joe Landi (University of Rhode Island) grounded out allowing Josh Perez (Mississippi College) to score.

The home team added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead over Glens Falls. With the bases loaded and one out, Sean Osterman (St. John Fisher College) scored from third as the opposing shortstop committed a fielding error. Glens Falls was able to work out of the jam with minimal damage.

Griffen again provided the Golden Eagles with the offense as he gave them the lead with one swing of the bat.

With two outs in the inning and men on first and second, the catcher blasted a three run shot over the center field wall to give the team a 4-3 lead.

Newark answered right back to tie the score at four. The second baseman Perez provided the RBI with his double to centerfield, driving in Chris Doyle (UC Davis) in the bottom of the sixth.

In the seventh, the team took the lead as Brent Langston (Delta State) and Perez provided RBI hits to give the team a 6-4 lead.

Austin McAuliffe (NJIT) earned his second win of the season. The lefty pitched two innings of relief and gave up one hit while striking two. Jordan Keysor (Skidmore) earned the loss for the Golden Eagles. The reliever pitched one and two-third innings, while giving up one hit, one walk, and striking out two. Mark Scott (San Joaquin Delta) earned his fourth save of the season.

The Pilots will travel to Elmira to take on the Pioneers at Dunn Field Monday night for a game time start of 7:05 p.m. Glens Falls will travel back home as they will host Amsterdam at East Field Stadium for game time start of 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
