The Glens Falls Golden Eagles (29-20) dethrone the defending champion Newark Pilots (26-22), as they win game two of the semifinals. The number two seed defeated the number three seed by a final score of 10-8 at Colburn Park Saturday night.

The Golden Eagles flew to victory, as Kevin Meyers (Northeastern Oklahoma) blasted a two run shot over the right-centerfield wall. His run counted as the third home run of the game for the visiting team. Chase Griffin (Georgia Southern) was the other runer to cross the plate on the homer.

Glens Falls didn’t waste any time to spread their wings, as their third baseman Alberto Morales (Claredon) blasted a two run home run over the left field wall. Scoring on the bomb was Danny Brennan (Saint Louis).
In the bottom of the third, Newark took flight towards a 5-2 lead thanks to a Josh Perez (Mississippi College) bases clearing triple. Scoring on the hit to right field was Brent Langston (Delta State), Austin Logan (UC Davis), and Grace. Langton also provided a RBI hit in the inning.

The Pilots added to their scoring surge as they piled on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth as the Glens Falls’ pitcher committed a wild throw to the first baseman as the home team had the bases loaded; Chris Doyle (UC Davis) and Perez scored on the wild throw to give the home team a 7-3 lead.

Trailing 8-4, Glens Falls rallied back in the top of the sixth inning. With one swing of the bat, Casey Rodrique (LSU Eunice) tied the game 8-8 as he cleared the bases with a towering shot over the right field wall.

Neil Fryer (Siena) earned the win for the Golden Eagles. The righty pitched five innings of relief giving up one run on three hits. He struck out eight batters and walked just one batter. Chris Rogers (Oklahoma Baptist Univ.) took the loss for the Pilots. The righty pitched one and two-third innings of relief, giving up two earned runs on two hits. He struck out two.

Glens Falls will await the winner of game three of the other semifinal series between the Amsterdam Mohawks and Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. Game one of the champion series will be on Tuesday.
