Butterfly Nature Trail
The dream of this Village project began over a year ago with the Macedon Village Pride Committee. The Village of Macedon gave its full support and agreed to some in kind services. The location for this Butterfly Trail is at Canal Park-Lock 30, west of the Fire Dept and boat launch.
On July 24th, the excavating began. Thanks to the hard work of Tim from Herb Boyce Grading Co, Village DPW Roy Cottrell and Travis Chappell along with Marie Cramer, Mayor Village of Macedon and Macedon resident Bill Rider.
On July 26th, the path was placed with help from George at the Floyd Frey Excavating and Blacktop Contractors, Village DPW Roy Cottrell and Jesse Moon, Marie Cramer, the Town of Walworth and the Town of Macedon. The Town of Palmyra agreed to be on call if needed. With the heavy down pour of rain the night before, this was a very difficult and challenging day for everyone involved. However, through perseverance and experienced workers the job was completed.
The walk-able trail will be ready for visitors by August 6th. This project will take a few years to complete, but you can be assured that, if you are patient, you will be very pleased. Volunteers and private donations are providing the means to complete the Butterfly Nature Trail.
If anyone would like to help through donations or volunteering your time, please feel free to contact me at 315-986-2556.
Thank you to Mark DeCracker for bringing this idea to John Cieslinski and for John bringing this to the committee. Your great vision will help the Village of Macedon residents and canal travelers for many years.
Thank you,
Marie Cramer

This is an excellent example of when you combine collaboration with compassion ideas come to fruition.
