On Saturday, October 6, the Macedon Village celebrated its community picnic for Autumn on the Erie. People assembled early for the festivities. The Macedon Village Fire and Ambulance Department grilled hot dogs and sausages and hamburgs. People brought wonderful dishes to pass. The Kiwanis Club, under the guidance of John Sargent, sponsored events for children and Lee Kaminske's fabulous band treated us to old favorites--we even sang along.
Macedon Trails, through Bill Lawton, offered guided tours of the new Butterfly Nature Trail. Participants saw cardinals, ducks and even a heron. Sally Millick provided excellent history notes for the area.
There was an apple pie and apple cake contest. The event was fun and it was great to see the residents engage in such an event. Not only was everyone's entry delicious, but it was special to see the time, hard work and effort each individual contibuted to make this event happen.
We are grateful to a host of volunteers and vendors. This is a wonderful community at the center of the universe!
