Susan Gateley will be presenting her new book, Maritime Tales of Lake Ontario which provides a compelling narrative from the decks of Lake Ontario ships, revealing how these remarkable vessels and the lake are historically intertwined. It has great vintage illustrations of boats on Lake Ontario, supplemented by modern shots. The range of the content is very broad—from adventurous and heroic stories, to the fantastic and the moving. Susan sails and writes on Lake Ontario. She is a native upstate New Yorker and fisheries biologist, who single handed the wooden sloop "Ariel" in search of stories for boating and nature magazines for 17 years.
