January 25, 2013 -- An angling seminar, New York State
Young Boater Safety Certification training, and in-water demonstrations of life
jackets and canoe safety will be offered free with admission to the February
13-17, 2013 Central New York Boat Show at the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY. The
schedule is as follows:
Wednesday,
February 13, 6:30pm
Freshwater
Fishing Tips with Captain Tony Buffa
Learn tips gained from 35-plus
years of charter captain experience on New York waters with fishing guide
Captain Tony Buffa at the Center of Progress building.
Thursday,
February 14, 6-8:30pm AND Saturday, February 16, 9am-2:30pm
New
York State Young Boater Safety Certification Training with USCGA
The 8-hour training taught by the
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in the Horticulture Building Seminar Room is
required for youth ages 10-17 to legally operate a motorized boat or watercraft
alone on New York waters. Registrants receive three free passes to the CNY Boat

In-Water
Life Jacket (PFD) & Paddle Sports Safety Demonstrations with New York Sea
Grant
Do you know how the five different
types of PFD (personal floatation devices) work and when you need to use them?
Do you know what to do before and when you flip your canoe or kayak? Find out
at in-water demonstrations sponsored by New York Sea Grant, U.S. Coast Guard
Auxiliary, Full Throttle Life Vests, Syracuse Pool & Patio, Marathon Boat
Group, and Morgan Recreational Supply.
PFD
Demonstrations will be presented:
- Thursday, Feb. 14 and Friday, Feb. 15 at 7pm
- Saturday, Feb. 16 at 12pm and 4pm
- Sunday, Feb. 17 at 12pm and 3pm
Paddle
Sports Safety Demonstrations will be presented:
- Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2pm and 6pm
- Sunday, Feb. 17 at 2pm
Those attending the in-water demonstrations can register for
the opportunity to win a Shoremaster Navigator Kayak from Brinson Marine and
Shoremaster, Syracuse, NY; a Full Throttle Type III Inflatable Life Vest, or a
free adult Boating Safety Certification class with the U.S. Coast Guard
Auxiliary.
The Central New York Boat Show is
New York’s largest and oldest boat show, with more than 500 power, sail and
sport boats, personal watercraft, water recreation equipment, marine
accessories and services, and docks on display in three buildings. Show hours
are 1-9pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 10am-9pm Saturday; and 10am-5pm
Sunday. Admission is $10/person; children 13 and younger free. Parking and
shuttles are free. The Central New York Boat show is organized by the Boating
Industry Association of Upstate New York, www.cnyboatshow.com.
