Trailing 4-3, Josh Ludwig (University of Rochester) knocked a two-run double into right field to give the Pilots the first lead of the game. Ludwig then scored an insurance run in the next at-bat when Jeff Edwards (Valparaiso) hit a double of his own.

With one out in the top of the seventh inning right-handed pitcher Jimmy Wagner (Ithaca) took the mound for the Pilots. Wagner struck out seven of the eight batters he faced to preserve the two-run lead, earning his first save of the season.

The Brewers took an early 4-1 lead in the top of the second inning. Michael Pierson (Appalachian State), Jay Gonzalez (Auburn) and Michael McClellan (Georgia Southern) each drove in a run for Utica.

The Pilots cut the deficit to one in their half of the third. Jacob Russell (Kentucky) hit a two-run home run over the wall in right center field to make the score 4-3.

Eddie Emes (Greater Allegheny) struggled in his first start of the season. Emes allowed four runs, three earned, in three innings of work. Tyler Wilson (Buffalo, 1-0) earned the win in relief, striking out five Brewers in 3 1/3 innings. Russell led the Pilots with three RBI.

Jorge Pantoja (Alabama State) was handed the loss for Utica. Pantoja allowed five runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. McClellan went 3-for-5 with two RBI.

The Brewers travel back home to face the Adirondack Trail Blazers on Sunday while the Pilots next home game is Tuesday June 18th against the Watertown Rams.
