February 3, 1014 -- The 2014 Central New York Boat Show has added new excitement to attract visitors to the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY, on February 12-16.

The U.S. Power Squadron will be using remote-controlled mini-boats to demonstrate how navigational buoys enable boaters to avoid hazards.

The New York Sea Grant Launch Stewards will be talking with show visitors how voluntary watercraft inspection helps reduce the spread of aquatic invasive species.

Because the 2014 show dates include Valentine’s Day, wineries from New York State’s Finger Lakes region will offer samples and sales from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, February 14 in each of the show buildings.

Also new at the event that features more than 500 models of water vessels and personal watercraft on display in three buildings at the Fairgrounds will be the 2014 Discover Clean and Safe Boats equipped by New York Sea Grant with all the gear required and recommended for clean, safe, and legal boating on New York waters.

‘The Central New York Boat Show is pleased to offer great new boater-friendly educational opportunities at our Boating Information Center along with the 2014 boating safety, maritime law, and boating destination exhibits by U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, New York State Canal Corporation, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard, Onondaga County Sheriff and Air One,’ says Central New York Boat Show Manager Drew Wickham.

The show also includes:
  • special 2014 Cold Water Survival CME-credit Safety Training for New York state-based First Responders with free show admission,
  • a Young Boaters Safety Certificate course with free show admission, and
  • daily in-water demonstrations of life jackets by New York Sea Grant.
For more information on these programs, contact New York Sea Grant at 315-312-3042. NYS Sportsman Hall of Famer Captain Tony Buffa will share his 38 years of walleye fishing expertise at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, February 12 in the Fremac Waterfront Booth 9 in the Center of Progress Building.

The February 12-16, 2014 Central New York Boat Show hours are 1pm-9pm Wednesday-Friday, 10am-9m Saturday, and 10am-5pm Sunday at the NYS Fairgrounds. Admission is $10/person, children 13 and younger enter free with free parking and shuttles. Learn more at www.cnyboatshow.com.
