A TRUE FRIEND OF THE COMMUNITY Once in every place, someone comes along and this time we celebrate Bill Rider, friend of the people he has known and the community he has so gallantly served. He recognized the historical value of the Macedon area, and the need to cherish that work. He has given of his strength and persistence way beyond what would be required of anyone, and we - the peoples of Macedon have not only benefited from his wise counsel, but also the tremendous amount of work he has done along our trails and way beyond. I do not know a great deal about Bill personally, but I do know that I am honored to call him friend. Today we were privileged to walk the Lock #60 trail, surprising Bill with a celebration of pizza, cookies, chips of all sorts, donuts, cocoa and coffee. We were all led down the trail to a wonderful two person bench which had been dedicated to Bill and all of his years of community service. We sat on a lovely knoll slightly above the bank of the Canal waters. What a lovely spot to share with blue skies and white clouds overhead, and speckled sunshine coming through the trees. What a fun time we had! What a man, this man of consistent order who truly made a difference in his community and ours. He has put many to shame with his courage and continuous dedication to the historical future of Macedon, New York. May we continue to be reminded of his dedicated service, and like Bill, do our best to emulate the consistent efforts of a job well done. Thank you, Bill Rider for your years of deep dedication to the community you have so well loved. History will celebrate your uncommon and unconditional love for this community.
