Wayne County Council for the Arts is pleased to present the 2015 Annual Members’ Art Show in
the Main Gallery. The exhibit will celebrate the talents of our local artists including oil, watercolor
and pastel paintings, photography, woodworking, pottery and much more.
In the Chris Fayad Members’ Gallery, we are happy to present Kim Bellavia. Kim is an artist
working in the mediums of sculpture mixed media and installation. The purpose of her work is to
give form and contrast to the notion of ”Being”. Her studio work is the process of making a
dialogue with the natural world depicting how nature and human nature weave themselves into
the intrigue of life and the entropy of existence.
The last four years Kim has received local Individual artist grants from the New York State Council
of the Arts. (Wood land Merry-go-Round Project, Every Day Armor, Soul Vessels, Looking for the
Green Man) She has been a working artist since 1996 and has shown nationally with a prolific
exhibition vitae. Her earlier work has procured awards such as Best sculpture award (by Wendell
Castle), Presidents award (Nazareth College) and a Commission from the Boulder Public library,
Boulder Colorado.
This year 2015 individual artist grant is an exhibit titled “Looking for the Green Man” which is an
installation of a variation of the Green Man as the Archetype of our oneness with the earth. This
will take place in July 2015.
Kim received her Bachelors degree in Art Education from Nazareth College, Rochester, NY in 1996
and a Master degree in Fine Art Sculpture from Portland State University in Portland Oregon in
2000.
She lives and works in upstate New York Canandaigua, Finger Lakes Region, Honeoye, NY. You can learn more about Kim by visiting her website at http://kimbellavia.com/
