Newark resident Carolyn Ryan was honored recently by her church and as a special surprise by members of her Lyons Alma Mater.
Carolyn (Beal) Ryan is the last surviving member of the Lyons High School, Class of 1936, and was paid a visit at her home on Lea Drive in Newark on her birthday by Lyons Central School students accompanied by school Supt. Don Putnam.
Later that week members of the congregation of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newark honored her with a celebration in the parish hall, attended by old friends and many well wishers. A photo was taken of Mrs. Ryan, at 99, the oldest member of the church with 9 month old Mackenzie Syron, the youngest member of the church.

Gil Burgess Said,
I wonder if she remembers her school nurse, Pauline Jagger Burgess.
